Liquid Natural Gas

Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) is the result of a process that simultaneously pressurizes and cools natural gas until it is condensed to a liquid state. The resulting liquid state takes up 1/600 the volume of natural gas and is stabilized at minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit.

LNG is much easier to store and transport than natural gas. LNG does not need an elaborate pipeline infrastructure for movement from mining to market. It is stored in cryogenic containers and transported via tanker truck, railway tanker, and specially-designed seagoing tankers called LNG Carriers.
